Anti-microbial coatings for sanitation and hygiene.

Companies regulated and audited by USDA, FDA, and other entities can turn to Painters USA for safety-compliant facilities.

Bacteria, mold, fungus, and other contaminants find any vulnerable spots on plant walls, ceilings, floors, and machinery to start growing and multiplying undetected. Without vigilance and regular inspection, these unwanted pollutants have the potential to harm your facilities, employees, and products and lead to serious financial or legal consequences. Some commercial facilities and industries, like food and beverage processing and pharmaceutical, are required by USDA and FDA regulations to maintain floors with antifungal and antimicrobial properties.

With decades of experience serving clients in food, beverage, and other highly regulated industries, and our ongoing commitment to education, Painters USA brings extensive understanding of the latest coating technologies. When it comes to combating and preventing unwanted menaces in your facilities, we'll have your floors and any other vulnerable surface covered for resistance.

Where anti-microbial coatings are used

Anti-microbial coatings can be used on any concrete surface. They look and perform like any other coating, but with the added benefit of preventing the growth and spreading of mold, bacteria, and other impurities. It's an additive that inhibits future microbial growth. It can be mixed in with floor and wall coatings. Any floors subject to rigorous cleaning, chemical exposure, extreme temperature changes, heavy foot and vehicle traffic, or thousands of pounds of force will perform better with bacteria-resistant coatings.

Painters USA provides sanitary and hygienic flooring solutions for:

From production to packaging to storage and distribution, the skilled technicians of Painters USA can prepare your facilities for USDA and FDA inspections and third-party audits throughout your supply chain.

We’ll keep you audit and inspection ready

Most of our clients are accountable to a tangled web of regulatory agencies and business stakeholders crossing local, state, and federal levels, especially in the highly regulated food industry. When you choose Painters USA, you get a knowledgeable, experienced partner to ensure your facilities are ready for any inspections.

Have any questions?

How anti-microbial floor coatings perform

The key to stopping bacteria, mold, and other contaminants from spreading throughout a facility is to create impermeable surfaces—especially flooring. We do this by establishing a seamless surface, one that is free of cracks and spalls to form a protective barrier against the spread of unhealthy pollutants and impurities. The anti-microbial properties work by being released slowly over time. Coating certifications from NACE and SSPC (now together as AMPP) and strong relationships with coating manufacturers give Painters USA the capabilities to identify the best coating products and application to give you the most effective solution for fighting mold, bacteria, and other unwanted contaminants.

Depending on the setting and how the floor is used, antimicrobial flooring can last 5-10 years with proper installation. Facilities with heavy machinery use, extreme temperature swings, and other destructive forces will obviously have a shorter lifespan. It's important to monitor your facilities regularly and bring in qualified coating professionals with NACE inspection certification credentials to check for minor abrasions and voids in the coating surface that could lead to problems.

USDA and FDA approved floor coatings

Epoxy and epoxy cove base

Epoxy floor coatings are a good option for environments that deal with chemical products, alkalis, intense heat, and rigorous cleaning processes. Many epoxy flooring systems are FDA- and USDA-approved as an option for impermeable floor surfaces that will prevent microbes, water, or other substances to seep into the concrete substrate. Epoxy systems can also include an epoxy cove base for a seamless, smoothly curved slope between wall and floor, covering the narrow seam that is difficult to keep clean and accumulates dirt and debris.

Urethane floor coatings

Urethane flooring systems are a popular choice because of their durability, which makes them long-lasting, easy to keep clean, and heat resistant. Meat and poultry processing plants often favor urethane flooring as it's quick drying and virtually odorless.

Polyurea floor coatings

Many polyurea food and beverage floor coatings meet USDA and FDA requirements, along with ANSI-NSF 61 standards for water treatment. As a low- or no-VOC solution that cures quickly and is flexible over a variety of substrates, Polyurea is valued in the meat packing industry and other plants with temperature extremes and heavy usage.
