Floor Repair and Epoxy Coating in Indiana

Recently we had the opportunity to do quite a bit of work for a large manufacturing plant in Indiana. We painted throughout their offices and the walls in their production area as well.

Another huge part of this project, however, was to give the floor in their main manufacturing, shipping and receiving areas a whole new lease on life. Because of the constant wear and tear flooring in this kind of environment experiences, there was a lot of preparatory work involved to make sure the project was done correctly and in a way that will last.

First we made sure that the flooring was fully repaired wherever necessary. This is a lot like doing bodywork on a car before repainting it. Nobody would simply spray a high-gloss black over a rusty patch; the surface needs to be solid, strong, and ready for the new paint. We definitely didn’t use bondo on their floor (or paint it high-gloss black), but we did make sure to remove any bolts in the flooring, repair unusual cracks, fill in holes, performed a slurrying of spalled areas, and degreased where necessary.

After the floor was mostly prepared, we used our diamond grinder across the concrete in order to make sure the surface was as receptive as possible to the new coating. As a final step, we laid down one coat of epoxy primer, and then two coats of 100% solid epoxy in safety orange.
