Static Dissipating & Conductive (ESD) Flooring
Many industries that work with sensitive electrical equipment or volatile materials require special flooring to protect them against damage from static electricity. There are numerous types of static dissipative flooring and conductive flooring, which vary according to the specific needs of the facility. Painters USA can help you find the best anti-static, static dissipating or conductive flooring for your building so that your products and your people are protected.
Nearly everyone is familiar with the painful phenomenon of static discharge, often occurring on playground slides or carpeted floors. Most people are unaware, however, that we create minor static discharge hundreds of times each day. These small static events are so small that we don’t notice them, yet they can create destructive results in some work situations. The industry term for floors that prevent this is ESD (electrostatic discharge) flooring.
Static dissipating (or static dissipative) flooring is any kind of flooring that provides electrical resistance.
Anti-static (or antistatic) flooring is any flooring surface that creates less static than its normal counterpart. For example, antistatic vinyl flooring creates less static buildup than normal vinyl flooring.
Conductive flooring is a floor system that is infused with conductive materials (usually carbon) and is secured with a conductive adhesive. This conductive floor material is then connected to a safe grounding, so that any static electricity that enters it is quickly and safely drawn away. Conductive flooring also has electrical resistance properties.
ESD flooring comes in a variety of materials to meet your facility needs. Anti-static, static dissipative and conductive flooring can be modified carpet, vinyl, rubber, epoxy and other materials.
