Industrial Painting

5 Industrial Painting Trends to Consider

5 Industrial Painting Trends to Consider 5 Industrial Painting Trends to Consider

It’s no secret that industrial painting is quite different from household painting. While the main purpose of household paint is decorative, industrial paint can be primarily used as a vital layer of protection from corrosion and chemical erosion for your steel or concrete facility.

But just because industrial painting jobs are more utilitarian in nature, it doesn’t mean they can’t be done with an eye toward aesthetics. Here are a few current trends and interior painting ideas to keep in mind if you are getting ready to paint your industrial warehouse or facility and want to add a hint of decorative style:

Warm & neutral colors - Colors like beige, taupe and tan are classic colors that will never go out of style. Not only do neutral colors help offset the harsh fluorescent lighting found in many industrial warehouses, these colors also often contain undertones that adjust to their surroundings. Neutral colors are simple and warm and are a great way to keep up with what’s in style instead of making a huge image overhaul that may go out of style quickly.

Rich & artistic colors - In contrast to the point above, some more adventurous facility owners might want to use colors that are more vivid and playful to inspire their employees and add dimension to a flat warehouse. Painting contractors have noted that vibrant earth-toned colors are making a comeback and some paint manufacturers have even started to produce collections based on a more “worn” look including colors like burnt orange or rusted red.

Environmentally friendly materials - With new developments in environmental laws and codes, ecologically-friendly paints are becoming a major element of all painting jobs. Not only is clean paint disposal a must after any painting job, “green” paint  and supplies like biodegradable paint trays and recycled nylon-bristled brushes and rollers are becoming more and more popular.

Color blocking - While color blocking has become incredibly popular in commercial painting, it can also be a great way to spruce up your dark or dull industrial building. Color blocking is accomplished by painting separate sections of your wall or ceiling a different color from the main color. Especially if you choose to go with one of the neutral colors above as your main paint, color blocking can be a great way to enliven a specific area without a major overhaul of your entire building.

Think ahead - This may seem like a no-brainer, but it’s becoming increasingly more important to think ahead before you paint any wall or structure. If you want your paint job to look great and protect your industrial structure for years to come, you can’t just throw on any coat of paint! Not only will skilled industrial painting contractors know the best ways to prep and pre-treat your building before painting, they will also be knowledgeable about the right paint to use, like chemically resistant or epoxy paint.
