Installing Acid and Caustic-Resistant Floors

One of the services we regularly offer our industrial customers is Acid and Caustic-Resistant Floors. Industrial business owners and facility managers will understand the importance of these flooring systems, but others may not. So, for the uninitiated, these are floors that resist acid and other chemicals, typically found in industrial facilities that are exposed to chemicals or require regularly chemical cleaning, such as food and agricultural facilities.

These floors can, in most cases, be installed and cured over a weekend, and ready to use come Monday. For the flooring systems to be properly functional, though, the floors cannot be porous. High build epoxy floors will do the trick, and can be used on a variety of surfaces, whether it's in acid spill and containment areas or caustic wash-down environments. The flooring should be able to accommodate a lot of chemical abuse, resist various types of chemicals, and remain durable.

Each facility will have its own needs, and these should be understood and ironed out by a contractor during the inspection phase. It's not as simply as applying a generic coating the floors and being done with it. Careful considerations must be made from the beginning to end of the installation process. And, of course, EPA guidelines must be followed.
