Tank Power Washing, Sandblasting, & Painting at an Ethanol Plant in Nebraska

We connected with this particular client at a national ethanol industry trade show. In the course of our conversation we learned that they were having issues with mold and mildew growth on the outside of their tanks. This not only looks unsightly, but not having clean, properly-coated surfaces can lead to faster deterioration.

Because slowing down the decay of your property investment is always a wise idea, we were thrilled when they asked us to put our expertise to work for them.

Professional Tank Cleaning

We started by cleaning the sides of their tanks with our industrial-grade power washer. And, when we say “industrial-grade,” we don’t simply mean powerful. To put our equipment in perspective, the average homeowner’s power washer sends out a stream at anywhere between 1500 and 2800 PSI.

Ours does its job in style at 6,000 PSI.

We then rolled up our sleeves and, with a combination of power tools and good old-fashioned elbow grease, we cleaned particularly rusty areas.

Tank Painting - All the Right Products in All the Right Places

After carefully masking off those parts of the equipment that were not to be painted (signs, lights, etc.), we applied a two-part Macropoxy, in white. After that, we laid down a high-gloss topcoat of mildew-resistant Acrolon Ultra, also in white.

Here’s a breakdown of the tanks we painted:

• North Denatured Ethanol Tank-250,000 gal
• South Denatured Ethanol Tank-250,000 gal
• Denaturant Tank-30,000 gal
• Diesel Tank-1,269 gal
• Corrosion Inhibitor-5,287 gal
• Waste Water Skirt

As a side note, we also sandblasted and painted the draft tube.
